Families grow, relationships change, people move through different versions of themselves. There are many reasons, and apart from milestone moments like maternity, most don’t come with a timestamp.

And with hind sight, its the ordinary details of today that become the things we most want to remember.

Portraits give you more than a record of how you looked, they give you a way back to a person, a relationship, or that moment in time.

THE QUIET THOUGHTS MANY WOMEN CARRY

The timing never feels quite right, and in the middle of caring for everyone else, you slowly become absent within your own story.

Maybe you’ve wondered:

- Is it selfish to want portraits?

- Should I be spending money on this?

- I don't feel photogenic.

So many women quietly step out of the frame without realising it. Not because they don’t matter, but because they have spent years thinking of everyone else first.

FIRST CONVERSATION

DESIGN SESSION

About an hour at the studio. We plan who's being photographed, what to wear, and where the portraits might hang. You get to touch and feel the actual art-mounted prints and boxes. We also talk about cost, so nothing comes as a surprise later.

PORTRAIT SESSION

Coffee, music and time to settle, then I direct everything. You don't need to know how to pose. Most people forget what they were worried about after five minutes.

VIEWING SESSION

I'll show you a selection of finished portraits (usually 20-40), you choose your favourites. We'll take a look at the best way to display them in your home. From here, you order and pay for the artwork you have selected.

FINISHED ARTWORK

Artwork is custom made and arrives about a month after the viewing, depending on what you've chosen. Wall pieces are delivered ready to hang, and art-mounted prints are either wrapped or presented in a custom box. Made to live in your home, not on a hard drive.

I will let you know when they arrive and we arrange a time for you to collect them from my studio. We can discuss other arrangements if this is not possible.

THE ARTWORK

Everything is printed on archival materials, made to last.

ART MOUNTED PRINTS

Each 10"×7" print is mounted within a 14"×11" fine-art mount, allowing the image to be displayed on its own, framed, or housed within a bespoke folio box.

The Reveal Box has a clear lid, so the top print is always on display and can be swapped whenever you like.

The Folio Box has a solid lid.

FRAMED WALL ART

Portraits are printed on cotton rag paper using archival inks, mounted in acid-free materials, and set within solid timber frames behind UV-resistant, non-reflective glass.

Choose a single portrait to frame as a statement piece, or a selection of portraits to frame separately and hang together as a collection.

INVESTMENT

Every family's home and taste for artwork are different. For that reason, artwork is selected at a Viewing Session, where you see your portraits.

This allows you to choose the pieces that feel most meaningful rather than deciding in advance what you think you might want.

A session fee of $500 includes your Design, Portrait and Viewing Sessions.

Starting prices for artwork:

- Single art mounted print - $250

- Framed wall art - $990

- Portrait box with 5 art mounted prints - $1,375

Artwork is paid for at your Viewing Session.

Digital files sized for social media accompany purchased prints.

FAQ's

" I don't know how to pose. "

No-one really turns up to a photoshoot knowing what to do in front of the camera without being given direction and guidance by the photographer.

You will feel awkward for the first couple of minutes, from then on it's more about how you feel. The "posing" tends to take care of itself.

" I'm not sure what to wear. "

We will discuss wardrobe selection during your Design Session.

For sessions with multiple people, simplicity works best. We stay away from competing patterns or designs, block colours of similar tone tend to work best.

For individual portraits, styling can be more intentional. We'll discuss this before your portrait session.

" Do I need to get my hair and makeup done? "

It is up to you. You can do this yourself, or I can organise one of my professionals to be at the studio ($300).

" Do you only photograph in black & white? "

My preference is to photograph in black and white. Colour is available, we discuss this during the Design Session.

" Where will the Portrait Session take place? "

The session takes place at my Newcastle-based Studio. I am known for my Studio aesthetic where lighting, props and backdrops all play a part....and the weather is never a problem.

People travel from Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley, the Central Coast and Sydney. If you can't make the trip for the Design Session, we can do that part over Zoom.

" Is there an age limit with children? "

There's no minimum age, and I usually photograph the kids first so the parents can relax. Newborns are always photographed in their parents' arms. I photograph maternity portraits between 28 and 34 weeks.

" How long does a Portrait Session take? "

As long as it takes, and this really depends on what type of session it is.

Typically an hour and a half, although some sessions can take up to three hours. We settle this at your Design Session.
